Words have always come to me easily and I used to read the dictionary for fun (seriously!). Now, as a photographer and business owner, finding that perfect word or ideal phrase makes me downright giddy.
But it isn't that easy for everyone so Creative Refined was born. We provide ready-to-go templates and compelling content so fellow photographers, designers, and creatives can spend less time at the keyboard and more time creating art.
Growing up, I always had my nose in a book. We lived in a small town and could only check out a few books at a time from the library. So on Tuesdays we'd hit all three of the local libraries and I'd bring home 80 books total. And I'd have them all read in time for the next book run.
And then there was journaling. In our basement there's an entire trunk filled with my diaries, short stories, and scribblings. I loved role-playing and creating my own stories, and then writing about all the characters that filled my imaginary world. As a teen, I began to focus my imaginings into creative writing, dreaming of maybe, just maybe, becoming a writer someday.
When it came time for college, I majored in Mass Communication & Journalism. While I barely made it through Statistics, I loved all my writing classes and knew that this would be my profession one day, although even my vivid imagination couldn't have dreamed anything a good as this.
In 2007, I married my sweetheart and followed him back to Alaska. A few years later, I blended together my love of writing, my fascination with marketing, and my passion for art into a full-time photography career, which has continued to this day.
Over the last 15 years, I've edited & written for magazines and blogs, been a featured artist & speaker, and shared my insights and experience with the creative community. In 2019, I saw a need in the industry and built Creative Refined to fill that gap. Now I spend my days meeting with clients, editing pictures, reviewing & designing websites, writing copy, and helping tongue-tied creatives fnd the perfect words to get the job done.
